Deadline: October 1, 2007 Call for Participation: EDRA workshop Movement and Orientation in Built Environments

Invited Symposium on Interindividual Differences in Spatial Cognition (posted: 10/05/2007): We are planning to announce a symposium on the International Congress of Psychology in Berlin (20.7-25.7. 2008) on Interindividual Differences in Spatial Cognition. We would be glad if some of the members of the Spatial SILC Network like to attend this group. For further information of the congress see http://www.icp2008.de/ . Please write a short email to either or if you are interested to attend and the title of a possible abstract.

Upcoming Conferences / Meetings

May 28 to June 1, 2008 EDRA 39th Annual Conference titled 'Linking Differences—Defining Actions’, Veracruz, Mexico. Of particular note is the workshop "Movement and Orientation in Built Environments: Evaluating Design Rationale and User Cognition" jointly organized by EDRAMOVE and SFB/TR8 Spatial Cognition. The workshop call for participation is here.

June 11-12, 2008 Conference: The INS and OUTS of Spatial Learning: From Theory to Practice, University of Chicago's Gleacher Center. To register for this conference contact Adrienne Larmett at (215) 204-4261, or via . Please note, space is very limited and registration is on a first-come basis.

June 13-15, 2008 Conference on Research and Training in Spatial Intelligence, Evanston, Illinois.

July 16-18, 2008 Advanced Training Institute on Geographic Information Systems for Behavioral Research, University of California, Santa Barbara. To enable more researchers to learn about GIS, the APA Science Directorate is sponsoring an Advanced Training Institute on “Geographic Information Systems for Behavioral Research, ” directed by Dr. Reginald G. Golledge of the University of California, Santa Barbara. The ATI will be held on July 16-18, 2008, in Santa Barbara. It is an expanded version of a one-day course offered in 2007 at the APA Convention in San Francisco.
This summer’s course will feature coverage of GIS usage in the health sciences, cognitive science, counseling, criminology, and education.

June 24-26, 2008 22nd International Workshop on Qualitative Reasoning, University of Colorado at Boulder.
Qualitative Reasoning research lies at the boundary between Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence. QR combines the quest for fundamental understanding of how people reason about physical systems with new ways to supplement conventional modeling, analysis, diagnosis, and control techniques to tackle real-world applications.

Please join us in June at the foot of the Rocky Mountains this summer to learn more about recent advances in this important and exciting research area.

September 15-19, 2008:  International Conference on Spatial Cognition 2008 (SC'08), Freiburg, Germany. Their website: http://conference.spatial-cognition.de/sc08. Also more info here.
